Sharks Fall to Morehead City

Sharks Fall to Morehead City

Wilmington, North Carolina-Tuesday night was one of those nights.  One of those nights where nothing went the way for the Wilmington Sharks in a 13-1 loss to the Morehead City Marlins at Buck Hardee Field in a game that was called in the eighth inning due to a twelve-run mercy rule.  The loss dropped the Sharks to 7-10 on the season overall and 0-5 in the season series with the Marlins.

The Marlins struck first in the top of the second when Hunter Shepherd led off with a single.  He advanced to third on a double by Blaze Glenn and then came in to score on a sacrifice fly by Ty Babin to take the early 1-0 lead.  The Marlins then scored an additional six runs in the third inning and saw ten batters come to the plate to go up 7-0.

The Sharks added a run in the fifth when Zachary Bridges led off the inning with a single and came in to score to make it 7-1.

The Marlins continued to roll in the seventh adding two runs to make it 9-1.  They added four more in the eighth to go up 13-1 before the game was called.

The Sharks will be back in action Wednesday night against the Marlins at Big Rock Stadium in Morehead City.  Cameron Reeves (0-0, 6.00) will start on the mound for the Sharks.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05PM.

The Sharks and the Marlins will return to the Shark Tank Thursday night for Thirsty Thursday presented by 98.7 Coastal Carolinas Modern Rock.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05PM with the gates opening at 6:00PM.
