Offense Propels Sharks to Victory

Wilmington, NC-The Wilmington Sharks put up twelve hits in an 8-4 victory over the Florence RedWolves Wednesday night at Buck Hardee Field.

The RedWolves took the early lead on a solo home run by Kenny Piper in the top of the first.  The Sharks answered back in the second with back-to-back two-out doubles by Tucker Greer and CJ Conrad to tie the game at one.  Noah Bridges came up and hit a two-run home run in the third to give the Sharks a 3-1 lead.

Darius Noble answered back with a two-run home run for the RedWolves in the top of the fourth to tie the game at three.  In the bottom of the inning, the Sharks used the bottom third of their order to load the bases with nobody out.  Tilo Skole and Noah Bridges hit into back-to-back RBI fielder's choice plays, giving the Sharks a 5-3 lead.  Bridges then stole second and came in to score on a single by Aaron Mckeithan making it 6-3 Sharks.

Mitch Barrow hit a solo home run for the RedWolves in the top of the sixth cutting the Sharks lead to 6-4.  The Sharks answered back again in the bottom half with a run on a wild pitch scored by Conrad.  An RBI single by Bridges in the eighth gave the Sharks an insurance run and an 8-4 lead.

Austin Parsley pitched six innings in his start on the mound for the Sharks.  Outside of the four runs off the three home runs he allowed, he did not allow any additional RedWolf hitters to step on home plate.  He recorded a season high eight strikeouts.

The Sharks used three relievers to shut out the RedWolves in the final three innings to give Parsley his first win of the season.
